Only the Highest Quality Theraputic Footewear
The importance
of the appropriate footwear cannot be overstated, a fact that
many people often find out too late. Often the cause of many
foot problems begins with ill-fitting shoes or models that lack
the design and material selection consistently found in the brands
that we offer our patients.
We are obviously not a shoe retailer and provide footwear
to our patients based on medical necessity to prevent or alleviate
pain and complaints along with your custom orthosis.
We constantly search for, scrutinize and test the latest major
brands and orthopedic specific footwear manufacturers products
for you to ensure their quality, comfort and appropriateness
for your condition. We also maintain working relationships with
several local retailers who stock these brands to aid you in
locating the best shoes for your personal needs.
All of the shoes and sandals that we offer are designed for
use with your custom orthosis and contrary to what you might
believe, you will not have to sacrifice your fashion sense to
achieve relief. This includes diabetic and orthopedic needs patients.
Here is a list of some of the footwear that we offer or can
aid you in purchasing:

Custom Made Footwear
We provide custom crafted footwear for those patients who cannot
wear off-the-shelf or modified shoes. Feet with marked deformity,
pain or dysfunctional gait can be addressed conservatively with
custom footwear.
Above is an example of shoes that we provided for a male patient
who fractured his Hallux (great toe) fifteen years prior playing
volleyball. His Hallux deviates medially (as do the lesser toes)
leading to a toed-in and painful gait. It is very difficult to
bear weight on the Hallux and to propulse off of it, as normally
occurs in terminal gait. Due to the deformity and pain he has
been unable to wear closed toed shoes.

Shoe Modifications
Often pain and dysfunction of the foot and ankle requires modification
of the shoe wear in order to achieve the desired results, prevent
reoccurrence and aid in healing. Pedorthist's are trained in
the construction and modification of shoe wear and orthoses for
the foot/ankle and aid physicians by providing this service to
the patient.
The practice of Pedorthics was created to fill the need for
a professional knowledgeable and competent to provide custom
shoes, modification of shoe wear and orthotic devices for patients
prescribed by foot and ankle medical physicians. A Pedorthist
can be likened to a Pharmacist of the lower extremity who focus
on the foot and ankle.
Professional modification of footwear can alleviate discomfort
due to many common conditions and deformities of the foot. From
simple stretching of the shoe to accommodate a bunion, to adding
a rocker sole that provides propulsion and relieves the pain
associated with arthritis, Pedorthic shoe modifications are an
important facet to the total care of the foot patient.
Pedorthist's are licensed and accredited by The American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics (ABC) and the Board for Orthotist/Prosthetist Certification (BOC). They complete continuing education yearly to maintain their skill and accreditation. Ongoing professional training assures the public that their Pedorthist is familiar with the latest techniques and skills to provide this valuable service to the public.
